‘Did he just say I have a cute face? Isn’t that another way of calling someone cute or hot or something? …did he just call me hot matter fact? A guy calling another guy hot or cute?’ I thought as I blinked a few times giving a skeptical look, he looked down to the side.
“Aron! You home??” the voice said again catching my attention this time. My door opened and my mother stepped in, “Oh you are..” she started smiling then looking to the side spotting Ren, “Hello” she said cheerfully causing Ren to look up and wave shyly. She smiled at him then cast her glance onto me again, “How come you didn’t answer me? Also who’s this little boy?” she asked casually. I blinked a few times looking at her and Ren. “Oh um sorry I didn’t hear you, uh this is Ren I met him while I was coming home.” I explained. She blinked a few times and looked at Ren then me, “Well its nice meeting you Ren” she said smiling as she nodded at him then closed the door behind her.
I sighed and looked at Ren, “um yeah that was my mom.” I said casually as I walked back over to my bed and sat down. He was still looking a little down I decided to checked the time again, “7:32pm….hmm” I muttered as I stood up once again. He looked up at me with a lost look, “I think im gonna talk to my mom about letting you stay for the night” I said as I walked out my room. I looked around the house for anyone else besides my mom and I guess Helena was at her friend’s house again, so I decided to go to the kitchen to find my mom preparing tonight’s dinner and talking on the phone. I walked in ignoring her conversation she was having on the phone and tapped her on her back. She turned around and looked at me for a second and placed her hand over the phone, “Hold on sweetie let me finish this call” she said as she turned around continuing with her conversation. I sighed and jumped up onto an empty part of the counter and waited for her to finish her little conversation. A little while later she patted me on the back causing me to turn around and off the counter, “what did you have to talk to me about?” she asked. I looked around, “uh since the rain isn’t lettin’ up I thought maybe Ren could stay here til tomorrow is that ok?” I asked nervously. She blinked a few times, “um sure baby just make sure it’s ok with his parents” she said turning around about to continue what she was doing.
“About that.”
“Hm? what about it?”
“He doesn’t live with his parents...”
She turned to look at me, “he doesn’t? Who does he live with then?”
“He didn’t say...I kinda didn’t want to keep talkin bout the subject cause I think it upset him a lil.”
“Hmm well we’ll ask for details later then he can stay for now but just tonight understood? She said sternly
I kinda felt a little happy when I heard that he will be able to stay I don’t know why though hmm maybe because I still wanna talk to him more…yeah that’s it. I went back upstairs and into my room to walk in to see Ren lying down on my bed facing the wall. He looked really peaceful laying there I think he was sleep im not sure so I checked. I walked over towards my bed and sat slowly on the bed trying not to wake him if he was sleep.
“Im not sleep.”
“Holy Shit Dude!” I yelled
He turned to face me and sat up right beside me, I still thought it was cute how he had to look up to me to even get a direction of speaking towards me it showed how small he really is…why the fuck do I keep doing that!
“I was thinking…I like to lay down while im thinking…sorry.” He stated as he stood up and walked back over to the computer desk.
“You could have lain on my bed, I don’t mind really I was just seein if you was sleep or not.” I said, he laid his head on the top of the desk and fell quiet.
“…My mom said it’s ok if you stayed tonight...” I said quietly I laid down where he was it was still cold for some reason. This silence in my room felt really akward and depressing I couldn’t stand it.
I glanced over at him, “Yo Ren” I called out.
He shifted till an ear was visible, “Hmm?” he mumbled from under his arms
I sat up, “why don’t you talk more im not gonna hurt you, you know” I said rather defensively. He didn’t respond, “Ren?” I called out again.
“Im not good with new people...sorry…” he said looking at me. “I can tell you seem really quiet and off …since you’re staying here for the night I’d kinda like to know a lil more about you.” I said trying to sound as least akward as I can. He blinked at me a few times, “you want to know about me more…?” he said sounding really surprised. I nodded; he sat up, turned to me, and stared at his lap. “Why? He asked quietly. “I’d like to know if im housing a serial killer or not?” I joked. He looked at me with a blank face now this kinda killed the mood all over again, I don’t know what his problem is but if he’s staying here he’s got to liven up. I stood up and walked over to him. He looked at me still keeping that same blank look on his face, I narrowed my eyes and grabbed his shoulder, “how are you at RPGs?” I asked. He blinked, “what kind?” he asked. “Um…hmm hold on let me check” I said as I walked over to my PS2 which seemed to be the only system I have that has 2player games. I picked up a few, walked back over to him and handed them to him.
“This?” he asked handing me a game.
“Tales of the Abyss, huh? Alright let’s play” I said as I walked over to my ps2 and put the game in. He got up and sat at the bottom of my bed and I sat on the floor below him. We played it for a while I played as Luke and he would switch off between Tear and Jade, he was really good at it to he made the commands more swiftly and quickly than I did when I played the game.
“Damn your pretty good you played this before?” I asked
“yeah I played the whole game as tear though I rarely ever fought with Luke or guy sometimes I would be Natalia but that was when tear or jade was gone or I forgot to put them in.” he said casually
I blinked at him confused, “wow” I said shocked a little bit. He paused the game and looked at me confused.
“What?” he asked as he raised an eyebrow.
“ahaha nothing just that’s the most I heard you say your whole time here I thought you was like one of those mute kids who stay quiet at all times” I laughed
“Hmm I can be at times but provide me with something that I like and ill start talking” he said unpausing the game and getting back into the battle.
“Well im glad you’re talking now, I can’t do the quiet for too long silence sorta drives me crazy” I said. When I glanced at him I think I saw a smile or that could have been the lighting having its effect on my eyes but either way it was nice I didn’t notice I was staring at him until the controller vibrated in my hand signaling im being hit. ‘He looks better when he smiles he doesn’t look so depressed” I thought as I turned and focused back onto the game.
A while later we stopped playing and I was sitting on my bed messing with my mesh bag trying to sort through the stuff in it to see what the rain got to. I see my now ruined homework and some wet gym clothes and a now soggy notebook that I used for health. I groaned and tossed my bag to the side of my room and fell back onto my bed. I yawned and scratch my stomach as I looked up at the ceiling.
“Ren come here for a sec” I called out to him.
Hmm aside from having a lil bit of writer’s block I think this chapter came out ok ….I think well if it didn’t oh well ill just retype it cause my allergies are acting up and I need some sleep I didn’t get home til late last night and I fell asleep right when I got home so I guess it delayed this chapter a bit. Eh I have Monday off so thanks to that I can probably finish chapter 4 until then ~ N3K0
